Background
What is the Cult of the Raptor?
In Orgrimmar and various villages within the Horde’s holding graffiti can be found almost everywhere. The sides of buildings, drawings in the sand, painted images of beautifully adorned raptors, claws, and the troll words Kukul’Kan have become a usual sight to see where trolls might be found.
The Cult of the Raptor is a Loa worshipping cult. The Loa being the troll gods, are a major focus of almost every troll’s life. Many trolls choose one Loa that they particularly have a special bond with, although one loa may be be choosen as that troll's patron Loa; only a foolish troll would ignore all the others. The Loa are a pantheon of animal/ancestor spirits that represent different aspects of life. The Cult follows in particular Kukul'kan the Great Raptor and they often refer to themselves in the game as followers of Kukul’kan as opposed to cultists. Kukul'kan is an aspect of the Loa Ula'tek the snake whom is also called Hethiss the Serpent.
The followers of Kukul'kan view their devotion to the Loa and the brotherhood created among the other followers of Kukul'kan as over riding the hatred and disdain that most trolls have for the different tribes. These trolls seek a new era in the history of Trolls, to rise too power again, a re-visiting of the golden age of trolls. Most of the followers are Darkspear Tribe trolls, with some Revantusk and Zandalari tribe. But occasionally a stray member of a warring tribe has switched sides to join the horde and the cause of the Raptor.
What are the goals of the Cult?
The Goals of the Cult are relatively simple:
-To further the study of all the Loa, especially Kukul'Kan
-To Bring a "Renaissance" of troll culture, history, and re-create the lost Empire
-To re-take the troll lands lost (i.e. Stranglethorn Vale, Jintha'Alor, Zul'Aman any place held by enemies or non aligned troll Tribes.)

What does Kukul'Kan preach?
Kukul'kan asks many things of those that want to follow him. Kukul'kan has promised power to those that follow his teachings. He like the other loa communicates with the followers in many ways. He gives signs and omens to his followers, occassionaly giting them with special insight. The Wisemons and witchdoctors make pilgrimage to the land of the spirits in search of his wisdom. An oracle receives messages through dance and the imbibing of ceremonial drink. Many members of the cult feel that they have felt or seen the presence of the raptor first hand.
These are the tenets that The Great Raptor asks for:
- A follower must give up all things for consumption which are not prey of the raptor. In essence they may only consume meat or things with meat in them.
- The passing of a moon cycle shall not go by in which each pledged follower does not shed blood and sacrifice prey to the loa itself. As the spirit world is separate from the world the troll inhabit sacrificing prey in this manner means that the spirit will find its way to the Garden of the Loa and be able to be hunted in spirit form by Kukul'kan.
- A follower must never allow a slight to go un-revenged. That time may pass but that all deeds and injustice must be acted upon in the due course that life brings it. Kukul'Kan has little respect for those that allow the past to go un-avenged. Blood must always answer for blood, even if the blood debt must be paid by the decedents of the original crime committers.
- A follower must seek to spread the word of the loa and let others know of the greatness of Kukul'Kan.
The Cults Hierarchy
The Council
The Council is made up as a council of Elders. Everyone among the Cult is equal but some due to earned merit and others due to age have earned certain ranks of Respect. The council as a whole is the main decision making body of the Cult. For the most part this is rarely used, as most of the members are free to make their own decisions and choices in life. Occasionally though there is something that might affect the whole of the Cult or be brought before the council to be heard and have a decision made upon. The other members of the cult may petition the Council to make decisions of justice and the like as well. It is also customary for younger members to seek apprenticeship with a council member and an honour to work under one.
Wisemon
Often Wisemon are the Witchdoctors, Hexxers, and spirit speakers of the Cult. These Members are well practiced in their art and often each has their own unique sets of rituals. All Wisemon are members of the Council of Elders. Wisemon are extremely respected and have often done some outstanding quest or service for the Cult.
Claw
These are members of the cult that have excelled in one particular thing. They are members who have earned a mark of respect through their actions. . This is a mark of honour to be labelled as a Claw of Kukul'Kan. Often those that reach the Rank of Claw are destined to someday become members of the Council of Elders.
Cultist
This would be the average member of the Cult. These are those members that Follow the path of the Great Raptor and participate in the daily life of the cult. These are the backbone of the cult and are the largest portion of it. These members are eligible for requesting apprenticeships with members of the council of elders.
Initiate
these are the newest members. They have taken the steps to begin to learn the path of Kukul'kan but have yet to finish all of the training that makes them a full cultist. When one of the Council of Elders believes they are ready the initiates are given an initiation Ceremony and raise them to the rank of Cultist.
