The Archivar's Choice

Eiswein sat down at his ornate Thelsawood desk. It had been his desk for how many years now? Centuries rather. With the care only librarians can master he placed a large, silverclad book in front of him. Slowly he opened the book while making sure not to damage the already fragile pages. He had postponed this for way too long. Come to think of it, he should have begun during the caravans even.

From his drawer he brought another book to the table. This one was brand new with the seal of the Ironforge Library on it. Quickly he read through a few lines in the silverclad book before turning to the newer one. He was sure of it.

"Nurturued by jaws of laughter, strengthened by a burning sun, the enemy will meet his fury, rather now than after."

The phrase still lacked a proper translation, but "jaws of laughter" could not be mistaken. Slowly he entered the name into the new book. He had found the first one! Finally things were going somewhere, finally things were coming together!

There is silly, and then there is really silly. Then there is downright dumb. Eiswein was not sure where to place his latest find, but it had to be inbetween the sillyness, he was sure of it. When hearing Starstone, a fellow scribe, describe reports of a horde order with a very unusual name he knew it was the sort of sillyness he had been looking for. The text had been clear, yet very unclear.

"Calling no country home, fuelled by hatred, she will emerge in a storm of blood and pink. Behold the death in her eyes."

He had double checked it. The guild was indeed called Pink Pony Crusade, and it was lead by a lady he preferred submitting her info from afar. If she was the one recording it. He was not always sure with the information received by the caravans travelling to Orgrimmar and Silvermoon. He was sure however, that Myrhial was the right choice.

"So you believe this individual, who we, if I may add, do not even know the name of, should be added to the list, based on his or hers murders in Stormwind?" Eisweins voice stumbled several times through the long sentence. In front of him, Alabast was standing with a pile of newspapers stacked under him as a seat. "Absolutely", the gnome responded. "Read the passage again. I'm positive it is properly translated. And no pink ponies this time!"
Eiswein peeked at the text again.

"A serpent, vile and cunning, filled with hatred. A path of blood it leaves, a house of fire it inhabits."

The old Archivar looked back up at Alabast, sighing. "Are there no passages that does not contain the words "hatred" and "blood"? Considering the purpose of it all, aren't these villains and no-goods?"
"Eiswein! It's all guesswork! I'm doing this work next to the so called newspaper business! I'm not sure for how long I can keep up the charade!"
Alabast stopped himself as a tall night elf scribe passed them, nodding in respect towards the Archivar. They sat in silence untill they could no longer hear his footsteps. Eiswein sighed and promised to add the new entry to the list. With a shaking hand he wrote in "The Viper" and prayed it would not summon the fiend.

The young gnome looked around the room. A slight draft moved small clouds of dust in the air that sparkled in the dim light. She shivered. She knew she was not supposed to be there. It was not her place, she was just a reporter after all. She looks down at the files in hand.

“Now were are these s'ppose to go? This place is as cluttered as my great aunt Bertie's brother's cousin's sons workshop! The last time I saw a place like this it exploded da next day. Fie! Well I guess that cabinet looks right.”

She walks over and places the stack of files mixing them among the sparse few files already there. She nods with satisfaction and races off. Adventure is calling and the newspaper would not deliver itself!

She
entered the office again, She had a stack of newspapers in her arms. On top was a list of names that she was supposed to mail some advertisements to. She cursed lightly as she looked around, certain that she had left the advertisement fliers in this office. As she rummaged through the piles of paperwork she did not even notice as the list of names fell amongst the other papers on the desk.
