The Argent Post is an Alliance-based newspaper with offices in Stormwind.
This document explains what it is and how it works.

The newspaper was founded to create a new stream of revenue for the Argent Archives and the Ironforge Library. It comes in both a Common and a Darnassian version, with a Dwarven and Orcish issue in the works. The printing press, located somewhere in the Mage District in Stormwind is a behemoth of gnomish technology, occassionally running rampant. This usually results in price spikes for the newspaper. Currently a daily copy sells for one gold coin or is donated for free due to donations from generous guilds and orders.

The newspaper reports on anything, accepting externally submitted texts and articles. It features both news, event calendars and stocks from the Ironforge Ale and Stock Exchange.

Note on evnets:
All events posted on the Argent Archives Webportal counts as if announced ICly in the newspaper unless its clear that the event is not a "planned" or publically known event.

Submitting your own news:
Want your news to appear on the frontpage of the Argent Pos
Follow these simple steps:

1. Write your article.
Remember to check the checklist below!

2. Upload your article illustrations to the Argent Archives.
Never upload illustrations to other sites such as Photobucket etc.
Always upload illustrations to the AA.

3. Upload your article as an AA story.
Remember to include the illustrations in the article.

4.Notify Alabast of your article using AA mail.

5. (Optional) Upload a 590x150banner and a 275x100 banner for your newsitem. Include the links in the mail to Alabast.


QUICK FAQ about articles
Why cant I just send you an email?
The Argent Post receives numerous mails each day with newsitems of interest. Sadly we are unable to post newsitems sent by email due to our limited workforce.

I have news, but I cant wriet the articcle meself. I hve p00r typing skillz.
Have someone you know do it for you. Some characters are journalists. Just search journalist or reporter on the Archives and see who you find. The Argent Archives cannot write your articles or news.

I did everything right, and you still didnt print my story! Boo!

OOC Checklist for newsitems:

Common reason for newsitems not being used:
- Write news, not stories!
A lot of news are written as if it was a story or a fairytale. Remember that you are writing about news and that your character is writing it. Be brief, be to the point and leave out details that are of no interest to the reader.
- Again: News, not stories!
Keep your newsitem between 400-800 words.
- Dont forget to illustrate!
A story without illustrations might get printed, but we prefer to lighten the text up with visuals. Dont forget that you have to upload to the AA!
- Write about news that will interest more people than just yourself.
News that includes statements, referals and comments on others but yourself have a MUCH larger chance of being posted than a newsitem that describes how your own guild just got founded or how you just returned from a long journey.
- Dont forget to use brackets!

- Describe happenings revolving around real characters, not Staghelm.
Thought Arthas is cool and uber and all, he ain't of much interest to the Post except as a secondary character. Write about real events revolving around characters controlled by real players on Argent Dawn.

Common mistakes:
- Do not write as if you are the Argent Post.
Write it as your character would TO the Argent Post.
- Remember to sign with your name at the end.
