Admitting
Stranglethorn Vale
Zeiji got out of the water, gasping for air, soaked from head to toe and with his mane of hair hanging wet and limp down his back. Sitting down on the beach, he threw down the enormous finger he had severed from the fallen sea giant of Stranglethorn. Regaining his breath from the long dive underwater, Zeiji wiped his face, momentarily forgetting about his broken nose. The pain that flared up made him swear loudly, and he slammed his fist on the ground, overcome by a sudden fury and humiliation.
Glaring angrily he stood up, packing the proof of his deed, the sea giant's finger, in his raptor's saddle bag.
He climbed on the mount, and started the ride back to Grom'gol. He hoped that bastard Zargh would be pleased.
Back in Sen'jin Village
Riding slowly, glancing around for Zargh, he did not immediately notice the figure standing beside one of the huts. It was the slight tingle on the back of his neck; the feeling that someone was watching, that made him turn around.
“Thought you be dead.”
Zeiji couldn't help but feel a faint amusement. He had searched in many places, and now finding Zulj in Sen'jin Village had a certain irony to it. Zulj was standing in the shade of herbalist Mishiki's hut, a mask covering his face and a pet snake on the ground by his feet. Zeiji got off his mount.
“Not dead”, Zeiji replied, taking a couple of steps towards the other Troll.
Admitting defeat was something Zeiji despised, and a thing he avoided as long as possible. But sometimes it was necessary to choose between two bad options, and the decision he had made had in fact been clear in his mind for weeks. Accepting it had been difficult, and now, stating it out loud was even harder. But it was something that had to be done.
Letting go of his revenge to Zulj's Blood Elf orphan was not easy.
And yet... it was not as humiliating as he had feared.
Afterwards, he watched silently as Zulj rode away from the village. Zeiji had not quite been able to interpret the other Troll's reaction to his announcement, but he hoped he had been believed when he had promised to not go after the Elf kid any more. Mainly because he had no intention to break the promise. It was strange how a single conversation could completely change one's feelings and thoughts.
Zeiji walked over to his riding raptor, glancing at the bulging saddle bag. Next was the matter of the filthy Bloodscalp scum and the Darkspear Troll who was on her side.
