A reluctant farewell
"Gone? What do you mean 'gone'?"
Aluuna stared at the young dock worker in disbelief. A frown teased her forehead, making her look over so stern, but her eyes betrayed her true feelings; surprise.
"I really don't know where they went, Miss. Nobody knows that," he replied with an insecure grin.
"Bah. Right fine," Aluuna muttered and adjusted the black scarf around her left wrist.
After dismissing the man as something useless, she went to other workers at the dock in hope of finding any relevant information. She was given the same reply by everyone; no one knows where they went.
"They can't just disappear!" she bellowed at an innocent Gnome, who quickly excused himself and walked away to handle some other duties very far from Aluuna.
She sat down on a not-too-comfortable crate and rested her face in her hands. They could not just disappear, could they?
"No, of course they can't," she mumbled. "They wouldn't just..."
But it was exactly what they had tone. Disappeared without a word. Taking a boat to Elune know where. After all they had been through, did she not even deserve a letter explaining that they were leaving?
Apparantly not. Cheers.
She wanted to be bitter, she wanted to be angry. But she just couldn't. Because she knew they had made the right decision. She knew that it was the best for the Goldhands and their child. Yet a selfish little voice within her tried to convince her to be bitter. To its great disappointment it did not receive much support from the rest of Aluuna's mind.
She had gotten used to losing close friends by now. It had happened so many times that it almost ceased to affect her. But losing Trynian and Eliras was a blow she had not counted on receiving. When she first heard the news about their departure, she faced it with confused distrust. Surely they wouldn't just leave like that? Surely they would speak to Aluuna about it first? Oh how wrong she had been.
The crate was exceptionally uncomfortable but she decided to keep sitting on it anyway. With her attention turned towards the clouds in the sky, Aluuna Treeshadow, former Druid of the Claw and former High Commander of The Vanguard Order let out the widest of grins.
Wherever you go, I hope you two are doing fine.
Aluuna saluted the thin air in front of herself. It was the only logical thing she could think of doing. A salute, a sign of respect and a remnant of her previous military life. The old geezer deserved all respect, especially from herself. If it wasn't for him she wasn't sure she would still be standing.
The stupid crate was more than uncomfortable, she realised. With a mutter, Aluuna decided to stand up and make her way to the gryphon master. She wouldn't find anything out about their location anyway, no matter how hard she tried. Not as long as they didn't want to be found. Before flying away from the harbour, she smiled at the horizon one final time.
It's been an honour, you blue-bearded bastard.
