Background
Doc Mixilpixil looked at his notes and sighed. Then he leaned forward, neatly folded his hands and gave a look of such quiet condemnation that his patient recalled the time his mother had caught him stealing cookies from his sister.
"Let's face it, master Frazzlestick, you're a wreck. I'm not just talking of your physical injuries, although having had your leg chewed up so many times by crazed druids hardly helps. What really worries me is your psychological state"
Albie fidgeted in his chair, longing for his box back in the Stormwind trade district. He'd rather be there right now, sipping coffee and oogling gnomettes in secret. Instead, he was subject to yet another Doc scolding.
"Yes yes, your state of mind. All those painkillers you're downing worry me. Or rather, the effect of them does. Having conversations with that panda cub of yours is hardly the sign of a healthy mind - it's evidence of permanent hallucinations."
Albie's mind drifted as the Doc churned on. He closed his eyes and began counting gnomettes jumping up on his box and fighting for a seat next to him. Ah, those lovely visions.
"And we haven't even begun speaking of your diet. Those endless mugs of coffee that make your heart race. That steady parade of muffins that clog up your arteries. How about trying herbal tea and vegetables for once?"
The Doc showed signs of slowing, so Albie reluctantly left the jumping gnomettes behind and started paying attention again. After all, he wouldn't have the Doc go through the speech once more.
"So get out of town a little - go on rescues, stab a few monsters in the back. Some physical exercise would do you good. Mhmm - that about covers it. Any questions?
Albie shook his head, then he thanked the Doc and accepted his new batch of painkillers. The Doc's bluster and threats aside, he never let Albie down when it was time to refill the pill bottle.
The sun beat down on him as he left the office, so he pulled his black hat into his eyes. Pandy sauntered over to his side from his temporary sleeping quarters in the shade. Albie smiled and scratched the cub gently behind his ears.
"It be abouts time to heads back to the boxies, hms, Pandy? Yeps, of courses it be. Lunch be approachings - some coffee and muffinses. Ah, Pandy woulds like banana breads insteads? Of courses!"
The odd pair set a slow course for the trade district. Another day of bickering, snoozing and gnomette watching awaited. Perfection.
