Thank you for buying this book. On these pages I will endevour to you my educated reader that magic is not in actual fact the mystical nature defying thing that many erroneously believe it to be but in actual fact a lost and poorly misunderstood form of science dating to a time when science had advanced far beyond even the finest constructions of the Gnome tinkerers.

You see it is a known fact by the more intelligent tinkerers that nothing can defy the laws of physics. Even the most amazing devices are all within the laws of our physical world and their function can be explained down to the most minute detail if you understand the device sufficently.

Magic itself cannot violate these laws or else it would not be able to exist. Also you must take into account the amazing similarities between some magical spells and technological devices made by both Gnome and Goblin, a good example of this is the teleport system. This teleport system and the various teleport spells used by mages utilise the same extra-dimensional space for the actual traveling. They also on exit create a similar spacial distortion, the only difference being that the spacial distortion created by mages is more stable whereas the teleporter system can be a bit more unstable due to the poor understanding of the science behind it.

Magic is also known for being able to make fire from nothing. This is not true as the fire still burns as normal fire should but uses Oxygen its fuel gas. The reason the flame is a normal orange and red instead of the pure blue normally associated with Oxygen flames is because of the Carbon present in the atmosphere also being burnt the flame if you examine it carefully also have a faint tinge of other colours as well from other gases in the atmosphere. Why it does not burn the user while it is still in his hands is currently unknown but with further study a greater understanding of the mechanism at work can be gained and this effect replicated.

Those who originally pioneered the Science of the arcane must have held a much greater understanding of physics and the world around us thus allowing them to create such a moderatly simple means of creating these wondrous effects. That level of knowledge is alas lost to us and magic over the centuries devolved into a poorly understood and ritualised mockery of what must have been its former glory.

Only with further study can we hope to understand this lost science and utilise the knowledge to make it accessible to all and not just a few. We can but only hope that we will not fall prey to the same ritualisation and debasement that they did.
