Interview with Lord Silvermist
I, Altron Sunbrand, would like to present you an exclusive interview with a real star – an old wolf and hero of Quel’Thalas. Lord Thèren Bèlothon Silvermist of House Silvermist. Read about one of the Thalassian celebrities, a man of great influence and a head of the most powerful court in Quel’Thalas!
You ask yourself – what’s House of Silvermist? A quick reminder, if you slept past few ages! Court of Lord Thèren emerges from years before the destruction of Sunwell, being noted during first and second invasions of orcs of the demonic, old Horde! Having lost most of it’s influence after the death of King Anasterion during the Third War, House Silvermist had to rebuild it’s glory from the beginning. Many of the nobles abandoned the old laws, and many of them embraced fel energies gifted to us by Kael’Thas Sunstrider, crossing the lines an elf wouldn’t even dare to look to few years back – but Lord Silvermist stayed true and loyal to old traditions. He taught his sons, Almeran and Nejasu about these old ways, and rules with them over his court to this day. I looked forward to meeting the man, and finding out myself what are his beliefs, and what makes him think he can play by the rules in the world where everyone breaks them? And so, I invited old Lord Silvermist for an interview.
The meeting was set in Royal Exchange, in one of the houses there (which I found out to be Silvermist’s Loremaster’s residence). Lord Silvermist was already expecting me, and I found him geared up in polished, shiny Knight’s armor, wearing a plate mask. Clearly the Lord knew how to make a good impression.
Altron Sunbrand: Let us begin. My first question to you will be... Who is the man behind the mask? Lord Silvermist, veteran of Thalassian army and an old hero, or just a relic of ages past?
Before Lord could answer my question, one of his servant appeared, carrying a bowl full of fresh fruits. I have been offered a glass of wine, and I just couldn’t say no (though I did not took a sip, I had to keep my mind sober).
Lord Silvermist: You ask me a question, someone else should answer. Now, how do I look on myself... I do see myself as a leader, but I must agree to the fact that perhaps my time in Quel’Thalas has passed. Times are changing, and the world I represent is in the past, and linger mostly as a memory for most.
Thèren’s face looked older for a brief moment, as he drew away in his memories.
L.S.: But my life belongs in Silvermoon City and the realm... and I would die defending it. For Quel’Thalas to grow and prosper we cannot hide behind these walls. My vision and belief is for us to rise, and fly far beyond what we are today, or ever were.
Silvermist’s words touched me, his body and mind may been old, but his spirit was full of vigor. I replied, with an excited smile on my face.
A.S.: Lord Silvermist, an old warrior, a noble and a patriot. I heard of your deeds from others, you have a reputation of honorable man. Your court is prospering, and soon will take place of old Bloodwind house in dominating Thalassian grounds. If it didn’t made it yet. My next question – tell me of your House, sire. You attract quite a bunch of interesting people. I heard of some dark individuals you hire. Individuals like one called “Mordekaine”.
Old man raised his eyebrow, and I expected an outrage. But instead, he smiled.
L.S.: Ah, the professor. To be honest, I would recommend you to seek him once for an interview, but I will explain my reasons for hiring him. And it was I, no one else who asked him to join. I have known him from an age when he was a high elf, and his knowledge of arcane is still close to unmatched... and I need him for that reason alone. He has aided us greatly in all matters, and he has good intents. I do not judge anyone by their past, but ask much of their present and future goals.
A.S.: I see. Speaking of high elves, what’s your point of view on them?
L.S.: They are brothers and sisters, and my goal is to have as many of them return here as possible. In fact, I have applied and gotten approved a relief plan. So this month House Silvermist will move south, aiding those living in exile and giving them a safe passage home. They have as much right to be there as you and me.

Lord Silvermist's initiative, the Quel'Dorei Amnesty.
A.S.: You are of course aware of people like Celess Soulbinder, who will go to any length in eliminating the Quel’Dorei?
L.S.: Soulbinder took a law in his own hands, with only me and Methalec Shar’Tal opposing him. As I raised on recent Council meeting, the documents given to him were signed and approved by some Lord of the realm, not the Lord Regent. He waved this around and thought he could do as he wish... no one dared opposing it. But I for one, will oppose it.
A.S.: I wish you good luck, my Lord. Now let’s talk about people. Could you name your allies, sire? People you respect for their deeds?
L.S.: I could of course. First of all, there is sir Methalec Shar’Tal, a ranger who did much for our kingdom, an old dog like me. There is also Lady Eludain Bloodwind, a person with a great heart, who did much for our cause. Unfortunately, she was forced to go into hiding.
A.S.: My next question – what are your plans for the future?
L.S.: My plans are as follows – link us to the old Alliance and restore peace with them. Re-establish the old trade routes. In time, regain independence and focus on restoring the full might of realm.
A.S.: Independence? Does it mean you’re not happy with our allegiance with the Horde?
L.S.: To put it frankly, no. Far from it. We lack reinforcements here, limited supplies from them. We are treated as a second rate at best, due to our ancient history.
A.S.: There are always the Forsaken, under command of Lady Sylvanas.
L.S.: The Forsaken have aided us well, yes. And our link with them is special due to House Windrunner.
I nodded, and I knew our time was running low. But I had one more topic to talk about.
A.S.: What about women in old Lord’s life?
L.S.: I was married once, she passed away one hundred years ago.
Silvermist seemed to avoid the topic, but I digged further.
A.S.: Didn’t you had any romances in your long life, sire?
L.S.: At my age... I look for a companion more then anything, someone I could talk to. And in all honesty, I have made a good contact with Lady Shar’Tal.
I smiled. Lord Silvermist, always a busy man, had other arrangements and I had to bid him farewell. He walked me towards the exit and despite his noble birth, responded to my bow with his own.

My impression on the Lord was very good. He was not consumed by his pride like many nobles I encountered, and although many can disagree with his beliefs, they cannot deny him the strength of will that he opposes the mass opinion. To those people, I can only quote a friend of mine: “It’s not important if what you believe is right or wrong. It’s how much faith you’re willing to give for it. That’s what decides the future”.
