Loryas background

"You again? Do you never learn, damn girl!"
The tall guard held her wrist hard with his plate covered hand. It hurt, and she dropped the piece of bread she held in her other hand. She could hear it hit the floor. Silently she swallowed, staring frightened at him without answering.
"I know your tricks to get food, girl! It aren’t working with me, you hear!?" He eyed her up and down. "And how old are you anyway?"
She still stared at him and the pain grew for every second.
"Answer me!"
He grabbed her wrist harder and she gasped for air.
"Twelve! Twelve years, sir!"
He dragged her towards the stairs that leaded up from the basement.
"Damn girl...Twelve years old. Where does your parents live, huh?"
She couldn't look at him, just follow him as he lead her, helpless. The questions continued. "What’s your name? "
She kept looking at her bare, dirty feet but whispered her name. She was scared.
"Speak up damn it, I can't hear you, little thief!"
He walked fast through the restaurant, she could feel people eye her and she knew what they were thinking. The shame turned her face red and she tried to hide her eyes behind her long, black hair.
Just before they reached the exit he stopped, sighing deeply and kneeled down to look at her face.
"Now listen to me... "
His voice has changed a tiny bit but it's enough to give her courage to look back.
"You have some skill... Lorya. But I have seen you. Don’t think I haven’t. You are good at hiding and you learn fast. But I was there last time you got caught." He sighs again. The memory made her body freeze for a second before she forced them out of her mind.
"Well.. I let you go for this time cause I feel sorry for you. But if I see you one more time I have to do something about it, do you understand? I cant have kids running around in the city of Stormwind stealing from others. Clear?"
The girl nodded. He stood up again, lead her outside and let go of her wrist.
"Now run before I change my mind."
And she ran without looking back.
