A Troll's Blood part 1
Posted October 26th, 2007 by Adnaw
Trolls grumbled and glanced nervously about as the time approached for the meeting.
First to arrive at the scene was Jinzuun, a young and loyal witchdocter to Kukul'kan. Soon after many other newer and familiar faces strolled in to sit around the constant bonfire in Grom'gol Base camp.
Nedibu'jin looked around as well not knowing most that gathered but happy to be in the company of trolls. They sat and waited for Adnaw to arrive as she was to prepare them for that nights fight against the Skullsplitters.
Nedibu'jin shot harsh looks at Wo'jin as his voodoo was always was out of control. This young witchdoctor was still learning to grasp the skill of controlling his mojo. Fire and bursts of light followed him everywhere and many shielded their eyes from him.
Jeax a newcomer to the group arrived wearing a pretty smile and an expensive dress. She seemed gentle but a look in her eyes told otherwise. She too had the power of fire at her command and from the look of determination she wore her mojo was fully at her command.
JaQ also shuffled in follwed by his pet and glanced around slowly introducing himself to the other trolls. And when most where ready to give up hope Adnaw finally arrived. Flustered and full of awkwardness she apologized and led them all to the meeting hut high up near the tree tops.
Jinzuun realized by the position of the moon that he must leave to meet others for a job he had taken slaying humans. Adnaw bid him farewell and slowly the discussions began.
Nedibu'jin sat listening quietly but always seeming slightly distracted from the proceeding conversations of the cults status and the actions they would soon be taking. His eyes constantly returning to the staff he carried with him. He looked up when the conversation ended and realized the time for action had come. He stood staf grasped in his haand and demanded satisfaction in the blood of the Skullsplitters.
Gothics arrived breathlessly as Nedibu'jin announced the fighting to begin.
Adnaw readied her weapons and helped prepare the others for battle. The march began. A swath of destruction and death lay in the wake of the trolls as they worked their way through to one of the Skullsplitters strongholds.
The Trolls looked down upon the chaos and Ashak who had been quiet till this point let out a roar and charged in showing his true trollsih strength. The others followed, weapons out and roars like beasts flying from their mouths. Adnaw barked orders as they closed upon a cave holding the chief. The henchman where down but Ana'thek ran in fright. Adnaw surveyed her troops and saw many were injured and battered from the slaying they had done. She sent those no longer able to fight back to the camp for healing, and kept those that where in some fighting condition in place to allow the others retreat.
In the end only three brave warriors still stood against the onslaught of Skullsplitters. Nedibu'jin, Ashak, and Adnaw all had the appearence of having been fighting in a bloody battle for days. Their clothes and skin in tatters and their eyes tired as they once again lifted their weapons to fend off the seemingly unending waves of enemy trolls.
Nedibu'jin Saw Ana'thek marching towards them with a full army behind them and knew that the three of them had little chance of surviving. Ashak whose strentgh and nature would not let him see the posibility of defeat roared out his challenge at them and stood ready to take them on alone if need be. Adnaw whispered something to herself beseeching Kukulkan and the fight was upon them.
In the midst of blood and gore, it was hard to say at all what was going on. The balmy air became hard to breath as the miasma of liquids filled the air and the fighting never seemed to end. The roar of a raptor was to be heard in the distance, and the fighting continued.
In the end of it Adnaw and Ashak stood facing the endless dead amazed at their own survial as the odds had seemed impossible. It took only moments to realize that one among them no longer stood. Nedibu'jin had fallen. Adnaw believed the fierce roar of the raptor she had heard must have Been Kukul'kan giving this strong Gurubashi warrior the power and strength to win this battle. The toll it had taken on him had been his life. Adnaw was overcome with sadness. Questionsing her ability to lead and desperatly asking the soul of Nedibu'jin to forgive her.
Ashak comforted her and was saddened as well by the loss but knew the trolls couldn't stay for the masses of Skullsplitters would soon be upon them again. They must leave and do so quickly, which meant leaving the body behind. They would not be able to take that burden with them in arm and their mounts where stabled far from the battle.
It was a day that saddened the followers of Kukul'kan and left a small sad part upon their hearts. Nedibu'jin had fallen in battle to help save the others. A proud fighter and a strong blooded troll.
It was a warm and balmy night in the jungle as always. The air felt heavy regardless of the fact that the rain had not fallen in the past 3 hours.
