| Outward Appearance | A thin thread of a 'once-man', standing at average height for a humanoid when not hunched over. Mysteriously, his body now apears virtually flawless, save for its pale blue hue, clearly indicating undeath, and his eyes, now nought but whispy blue flames set into his face. Hidden behing greasy remenants of a once well-looked after head of hair are two pointed ears, partially rotted away. Two sets of black-silk bandage adorn his face, hiding a monstrous pair of scars set into his face long ago. To this day in his undeath he can be seen scratching at them from time-to-time. When injured, Azrael's flesh near the wound becomes adorned with black veins, writhing beneath his blue flesh, he is then able to regenerate limbs as long as he has blood in his system - the veins are also evident when he is angered. This new regenerative ability is due to a mysterious core of crystalized Blood inside his chest, seemingly bound and enchanted through some magical (if not unholy) force. What this force is, none can yet say... |

Background
Azráel awoke to a world he no longer remembered just over seven months ago. Until this day, he has tried desperatley to piece together what his life once was from the scraps of memory left in his once living mind.
Formerly known as Auriél Willowbrook, a Paladin under the service Commander Hailín Bloodsinger, he fought gallantly besides friends as first leuitenant, more than worthy of such a title...
...those were good days...
...his Commander went mad when possessed by the Litch King, Arthas and killed scores of his own men, cheif amongst them his prized leuitenant, Auriél, who's face he seared open before watching him bleed to death. General practice dictated all bodies were to be burned after conflicts so as not to give the Lich King more followers...unfortunately for Auriél, his body was never located.
Awakening to a world you play no part in can do terrible harm to one's self worth, Auriél discarded his name after seeing what he'd become; choosing the name 'Azráel' as a more fitting title, he became a mercenary, franticly searching for the only person he could remember from life, his old Commander, Hailín.
-
After attempting to avenge himself and being discraced in defeat at the hands of Hailín, Azráel became his pupil, learning of the world he had no memory of, as well as training his skill as a warrior. During his travels he met countless commerades and great evils - upon one of these travels, he was appointed the task of locating a group of Paladins led by one Zikhárt Starwynd - he found his dead body, slain at the hands of Hailín along with the other few Paladins. After fighting for his life against an onslaught of possessed Paladins at Hailín's side, Azráel took the prize of a small knife in the posession of one of the Paladins - this would eventually lead him to meet an unlikely friend.
-
Azráel was hunted down by a young Blood Elf named Calamíty. Claming to be the daughter of the Paladin Zikhárt, she insisted he tell her the whereabouts of her father. After explaining to her what had happened with her father's mission to hunt down the Death Knight, Hailín, he'd made a friend in yet another one linked to the life of Baron Bloodsinger.
-
To this day, Azráel has gone by the title of Crowsong, forsaking his family name. Azráel held the rank of Deathguard Captain under the command of Hailin Bloodsinger, Baron of Brill, until the return of former Baron, Ilron. Upon Baron Ilron's return to Brill, he convicted Hailin Bloodsinger and all his followers, closest of them being Azráel and Leyrin, a fellow member of the Brill Deathguard, his right and left hand consecutively. Azráel was beaten violently alongside his companions before being let go 'as a warning', he has not seen Leyrin, since the incident, but has heard that Leyrin's fate makes his 'look more like a free bottle of moonshine'. Ever since the purging of Hailin, Azráel's rank has been probationary at best, nearly all of his activity is watched by Ilron's many eyes, cheif amongst them Ilron's pious follower, Rhaine.
Azráel has been ever more depressed ever since finding Hailin's official resignation letter, pinned by dagger to a wall behind the bar in Gallows End Tavern, Brill. Few see him around anymore, those who have are often greeted by a mess of empte bottles surrounding a very furstrated and antagonistic undead, once a proud and noble Captain...
-
Azrael's absence after dissapearance in the Western Plaguelands was explained, finally...
...he had become Scourge...
...his tabard was discovered along with the mutilated corpse of a young Human girl and a broken sword. It has been speculate that the child, known in life as Megan Faren, was a victim of a caravan attack by Scourge forces in the area, presumably, the girl was either saved by Azrael and then killed along with him or, (since Azrael's body was not found), it has been speculated that he perhaps went feral and murdered her himself.
-
Confirmation of his new Death Knight status came in the form of a battle between him and his old friend, Hailin Bloodsinger. During the battle, he broke the Runeblade, Dorados'no - Hailin's sword. However, this did not defeat Hailin, Azrael knew it would not since Hailin's synthetic core houses the essence of his soul. Noticing his reluctance to fight, the Lich King caused Azrael agony on par with that of Hailin's own after having his Runeblade shattered.
Somehow, Azrael was able to stop himself from silencing Hailin forever, somehow, his new bodilly makeup; a crystalized Blood Core, is bound partially to the Will of the Forsaken evident in his undead brethren, instead of being due to the Lich King's power over his body and mind. He has speculated that perhaps his unconcious will is what stoped him from dealing the final blow to Hailin - this internal conflict had revealed weakness in him, weakness that if he could not subvert, he would not not be of any use to Arthas for long.
-
In a final comfrontation with Hailin Bloodsinger, Azrael was finally stricken down. Appearing free from his Scourge status, Azrael was left to dwell the Ebon Hold under the watchful eye of Hailin, his former Commander in order to ensure his abolishing of Arthas' hold on him.
Azrael has spent the past moons training within the Ebon Hold, recently, he has been spotted in various places, normally trading locations and the like, working closely with the Eastern Kingdoms Trading Co.
