City of Sorrow

A short figure was walking through the old deserted halls of Gnomeregan...

The person was shrouded in a black cloak with a hood, perfect for hiding in the darkness. Although the machines would be harder to avoid, he was after all...a gnome... he was very cunning in the Arts of magic and an engineer, a gnome named Gerenin Chill-Bolt...

Gerenin pulled out a pair of infra-green goggles and put them on, modified by himself to also be scanners...he was looking for something. He silently sneaked past a patrol of leper gnomes, thanks to their clouded vision, they did not catch a glimpse of him. As he kept walking he saw several skeletons or half-rotten gnome bodies. It was unbearable to think that Thermaplugg had done all this...caused the remaining gnomes to be tortured for the rest of their lives with this disease... If there only was a cure...

After hours of walking and hundreds of memories, he found what he was looking for, the resting quarters and...Gerenin used his scanner to locate it...his home... It was heavily guarded by troggs though... The gnome created some stones out of thin air using magic and threw them at a direction away from the entrance. Gerenin smiled as his plan worked and the troggs ran towards the sound. He quickly teleported to the spot where his house stood and climbed inside through a hole...

The house was ravaged and dusty, yet some things were still intact. The gnome sighed and began searching the house. He did not find much things to reclaim, most things were either destroyed or about to fall apart.

"This is taking to long..." Gerenin thought and swinged his wand in the air.

Suddenly a wrench, an fist-sized emblem and a book flew out from a wooden locket shrouded in shadows. Gerenin grabbed the wrench and the emblem with his left hand and the book with his right...

The wrench, his first wrench, his father's wrench...the wrench that had been brought down in his family for generations...

The emblem with two crossed Frozen Bolts...the mark he had gotten from the advisor on that fateful day (See The rise of Chill-Bolt...)...

And finally, a snapshot album...he was amazed that it had not fallen apart...and the photos were still intact...

Gerenin snapped his fingers and teleported out of the halls...
