Cold, tired, hungry...
Cold, tired, hungry..
It had been two weeks since Aurenè left her home in Silvermoon city. The few treasures that had been packed for her she had used to pay her passage to the human capital. Everything here was so different, with blue and golden flags fluttering in the wind. The streets were filled with people hurrying about, none of them seem to notice Aurenè as she slowly made her way. A passing guard made her freeze in her tracks for a moment. Both in fear of being found out but also for the insigna, the lion's head. Aurenè hand went up to her neck, even if she had parted with all of her other belongings, she had still her necklace. Her fingers could trace the out line of it under her dress. The guard passed her and to Aurenè suprise she was greated by a warm frindly smiile. As she was making her way around the huge city she sent a thankful thought to lady Celestra, the woman had seen fit to teach her the language of humans and since reading had been her only pastime in her room, she had bo trouble making out the streetsigns.
Once more her stomach grumbled, reminding her that it had been more then a day since she'd had a proper meal. She felt around in her pocket and took out her last few coins. She hoped it was enough to buy her a meal and a bed. She was so tired and the sun was setting. Close to the city gate she found a small inn, Aurenè took a deep breath and went in. There were a few people in the room, none of them payed her any notice She made her way over to the innkeeper and after a few moments of haggling with the woman, she managed to buy herself a bowl of stew and a bed. Aurenè wasted no time, hurrying up the stairs towards her room. Then she got a strange feeling, it made her pause on the top step and she glaced back down over her shoulder. The hair on the back of her neck was standing up and she was sure that somebody was watching her. She let her eyes sweep over the room, then the feeling was gone. Aurenè shook her head, she must have imagined it.
She closed and bolted the door behind her as she sat down on the foot of the bed. The stew was hot and watery and not up to the standard she was used too, but it was warming her up nicely and beggars can't be choosers. She kept eating until she had cleaned the bowl. She rolled up on the bed, listening to the sounds coming from downstairs. She could her the faint sounds of music and singing. It made her smile, for a moment she felt like she was back in her room listing to the sounds of one of the many parties that had been held as she was growing up. She would even dance around her room, or at least she had when she was younger. She had snuck up the stairs and peeked out in the the great ballroom, looking at all the fancy dresses. She was hoping that maybe one day Celestra would let her join in. But that day had never come and with the passing time Aurenè had learnt that she was different. All her dreams about grand parties, dancing, music had faded. She had turned to her books to bring her to all those places that she wanted to go.
Aurenè yawned and she could feel her eyes getting heavy, as she drifted of to sleep she promised herself that tomorrow she would start looking for anybody that could tell her anything about the necklace or the name written on the back of it.
