Background

Background:

2700 years ago, after the epic troll wars, a few humans now found themself in position of the arts. With their elven tutors, they banded together and formed the second city state of Strom, known as the Magical Nation of Dalaran.

They devoted their skills to collect, study and catalog every spell, artifact and phenomenons known as well as unknown. And in that age the wealth and might of Dalaran grew. It's spires rose high to the heavens, and the Violet Citadel was built upon the finding place of the artifact "The Eye of Dalaran". Over the many years to come, they would make sure the safety of Lordaeron, evolve magic into levels not seen since the Sundering, they gave of their numbers to form the legendary, and secretive, Order of Tirisfal. In the Second War, the magical might of Dalaran was welcome on every battlefield, and they strove to prevent arguments between the seven nations to break into civil war.

As the reports came in of a plague moving in the north, The Kirin Tor gave a warning of it's possible severe outcome, yet they didn't know just how severe, and they would later deny it. A warning came to them, at the time, when they had realised an anomaly in their land.. Dead people, walking around slaughtering at will.. A cause of the plague? They sent out researches, but denied the warning.

And so it came to pass, that one day, at their gates stood the Death knight Prince Arthas, and one formerly known as Kel'thuzad of the Kirin Tor, who had now taken the form of a Lich. They had brought the Undead Scourge, the thing all just had thought to be a plague, was much more... and now they realised it. They fought to defend the Book of Medivh, which was what they sought. The undeads succeced in defeating the wizards, and bring upon the world..The Burning Legion. It's leader, Archimonde the Defiler, tore Dalaran down, useing his chaotic powers.

Dalaran's interests spread far and wide. From the mighty titan city of Ulduar to the deserts of Silithus, no cultist, warlock, demon or plague upon this world can hide from the ever vigilant Council of Six.

The Kirin Tor Snapography 09

A new beginning:

"The war rages outside our walls, dragons press from above and even in the midst of Dalaran herself! While faceing this horror, the ironheel of the Scouge marches below us, ever seeking a way to our sanctuary. It is in these time special methods must be used. Therefore, I hereby declare the order of The Kirin'Dal established. Our task will be to further the interests of Dalaran in more controversial ways when nescessary. By acceptance from the Council of Six, we have gathered the most experienced mages of the mother order. Our missions will be many and dire, and therefore we have received special benifits as to sorcery, and will not find ourselves bound by regular Dalaran law.

Time grows short and the darkness close in around us... Long live the Kirin'Dal"

- Former Archmage Dalar Dawnweaver

"By the grace of Dalaran, The Kirin Dal has been through trying times, but we will endure these hardships, my fellows. However, our kin have been avenged by the death of the dreaded Lich King and we may now settle other disputes.. With the Alliance, we shall crush the enemies of The Kirin Tor, be it undead, cultists or otherwise, we shall prevail!"

- Archmage Valven Fireseal

The Order:

Ranking system: The Kirin'Dal is managed by a Mage-Lord and his group of councillors. These run the order on a daily basis and present tasks and researches for respective members.

Associate: Everyone will start here after having completed a successful interveiw. Following this, they will begin a trial of one week. People searching for the rank of Apprentice, will be waiting here until they are worthy, otherwise they can expect a quick goodbye.

  • You got no rights, you're not a legal member...
  • Show up, aid... listen ...learn and understand.

Apprentice: Welcome to The Kirin Dal, you are now serveing your appointed master and will follow his every word. Do it well and you will soon advance both in skill, knowlegde and rank. Your foremost task is to aid your master on his missions.

  • These obey their master first of all.
  • Otherwise they are still the lowest ranked.

Magus: These excellent men and women are those who passed their training, with approval of their master, recieving the rank of Magus. They too are often sent out to deal with matters between earth and sky.

  • Initiate researches - They dont require acceptance, but they will need to keep the Council informed.
  • Defend the interests of the Kirin Tor.
  • Train the youths.

Wizard / Sorceress: The spellcaster that managed to pass beyond the rank of Magus. Adepts at wielding mighty spells in combat while protecting their comrades, these magi often prove to be an important weapon.

  • Initiate missions - With the acceptance of the Council.
  • Supervise members
  • Leaders while undertaking minor missions

Battle-Mage: Those that show greater potential than an average Wizard of Sorceress become Battle-Mages. These mages have attained power enough as seasoned spellcasters and can be ranked as officers.. or captains if you may. They are normally seen leading the battlefield assaults or defenses when the Council is not present. - Officer rank.

Lead their fellow members when the council isnt around.

Make sure the laws of Dalaran are obeyed.

High Magus: There can only be two of the rank High Magus. These are the candidates for the council. - Elder rank.

  • Be inspiring presences to their colleagues.

Councillor: Only senior and well established wizards, with the knowlegde and power above the regular, can claim this rank, their word is lesser law to lower members and their advices hopefully gold... but dont be too sure. They help the Archmage maintain the order. - Officer rank

    • Initiate missions and researches.
    • Supervise and lead.
    • Accept or deny the councils decisions.

Archmage:

The leader of The Kirin Dal. Tasked with control over the order, it is his duty to maintain a good eye over it. Also the head of the Council, he holds the highest authority.

  • Lead and supervise the members.
  • Leading magi and highest authority.

Guidelines:

  • All ranks from Apprentice to Archmage are to step in character and try their best to serve the interest of Dalaran, and protect it's honor.
  • The Kirin'Dal is a guild of individuals with one common goal, however, when a lower ranked is near to an officer it is required to show respect and follow orders.
  • Loyality and dicipline is repaid with generous offers and higher responsibility.

The Four Laws:

Also, we see it as our duty to make sure to all, what we consider to be our proberty.

  • Magic is Powerful.

Magic in Azeroth is the difference between a slave and a master, a foot soldier and king. Few races and nations can operate without powerful mages and warlocks. The use of arcane magic is growing; historically, each time this has happened before, a great disaster shortly follows. However, even though the history of the arcane is well known, mages and their patrons invariably come to the same self-serving conclusion: It won't happen to them.

  • Magic is Corrupting.

Magic corrupts the soul; if the humblest person in Azeroth became a practitioner of the arcane, by the time the practitioner reached the higher levels in their art, all traces of her humble roots would be lost. Magic breeds pride and arrogance. Magic corrupts the body; it ages the caster before their time and hastens the blight that the world inflicts on things fair and beautiful.

  • Magic is an Addiction.

When one feels the power of an arcane spell coursing through one's body as it's being cast, resisting the urge to cast it again is difficult. Frequent use leads to a desire for more and, eventually, to a desire for the evil fel energy.

  • Magic attracts the Twisting Nether Like Flies to Honey.

The Burning Legion has invaded Azeroth three times, drawn by the power of the Well of Eternity and those who employ it. Magic is a literal gateway drug that allows dark titans such as Sargeras to bring evil influences to the world. Those who employ arcane magic must deal with demons and other serveants of the Twisting Nether.

Taken from the book "The Arcane Arts"

As you will see, arcane has a price, and we who wield it, can never pay it back, but we accept that if it's the price for protecting Dalaran.

General Information:

The Kirin Dal is meant to be the top of every magical league, according to themselves at least, and strive to achieve any goal in the name of Dalaran. We dont accept rogue magisters, who's loyalties lies nowhere.

Some of our number pride themself on arrogance, something that comes with magic, Yet we forbid the use of demons and dark magic. Our top priority is to root out cultists that would threaten Dalaran or, very well, Azeroth. However our legacy is to study, catalog and collect every phenomenon, spell or artifact.

We'd like an ic'ly written letter in which you ask for an interveiw.
