From the flames of the shattering rose the Academy of Spellcraft, with the intent to learn and teach the ways of a caster. Seeing the dangers and opportunities of the newly torn world the Academy works to educate apprentices in the ways of spellcraft along with seeking to unearth old secrets of magics long lost.
The Academy stands firmly with the Horde it is a part of and aim's to use the knowledge within its grasp to fight back the Allience and the dangers of the newly shattered world. Any battle Magi of the Academy can proudly wear thier tabard in battle as a sign of skill and good training. All those associated with the Academy are expected to support the war efforts, though not everyone is expect to contribute. The scholarly roles of researchers, scribes and keepers are open to the conscientious objectors among our attendees.
While the Academy accepts any of the races to bring their unique take on the magics the Horde practice we are guided by elven hand. The restoration and protection of the of Quel'Thalas holds priority over the other lands of the Horde
While the tragedies of lost, missing and dead along with the destruction to lands mount from the Cataclysm the Academy believes there is always gain to be made. Artifacts and secrets now litter the world ripe to harvest. It is out duty to unearth the powerful and long forgotten objects to safe keep, record and research them lest they fall into enemy hands.
We prefer to work with the Reliquary rather then in competition offering our skills to study objects. The elven hand that governs the Academy remains wary of High Examiner Tae'thelan Bloodwatcher and his opinion of the future of the Elves of the Horde, but does not as it stands oppose him in any way. The belief of the Academy regarding those Elves remains that those of the Alliance have shunned them and they need not those High Elves to forge themselves a new and more glorious future. It is here that they honour and hold high the words of Grand Magister Rommath.
Initiate – An initiate is in the guild on a trail basis for one week and will be promoted to the appropriate rank after this.
Apprentice – An apprentice is one who requires the guidance and instruction of those more experienced. Within the Academy all apprentices are assigned to a master/ instructor to teach them their chosen path of spell crafting and guide them in their studies. There are many specific positions with titles currently open in this rank. (Please see forums for the full list of titles, what they mean and how they affect you in the guild.)
Academic – Academic is a special type of apprentice, one who has proven themselves very important or resourceful and shown great attainment in their paths. While academics are still undergoing teaching they are granted the rights of a scholar for their achievements. (This translates OOCly to to bank slots and amount allowed for repairs.)
Scholar – A scholar of the academy is one who has finished their instruction and graduated their spell path. Scholars take on new roles from the pursuit of knowledge to working as warriors of the Horde and many in between. There are many specific positions with titles currently open in this rank such as; The Keeper, The Faithful ect. (Please see forums for the full list of titles, what they mean and how they affect you in the guild.)
Master – Masters are our instructors of the different paths. Every instructor should be respected by their apprentices and looked to for guidance in their magic field.
(Officer - Officer is an OOC rank given to the Officers of the guild Thier Ic rank will be shown in an Officer note.)
It is important to note that these rankings may cross over into one another. For example an Apprentice my also be Academic, or a Master may also be a scholar. (For any person this applies to it will be shown in the note under their name)
Below is a short chart detailing at which ranks which titles may be earned.
OOC info and Rules:
- There is no uniform policy however we ask you dress appropriately (i.e items that go together, robes, Armour for combat/ combat training. Use common sense).
- Be polite in guild chat.
- Remember we aim to be a sociable roleplay guild. Ridiculous behavior to those outside the guild could result in a kick.
- We ask that everyone please remember that there are different styles and levels of RP.
- English does not have to be your first language but equally you will need to at least be legible.
- It is very important to know the difference between IC and OOC. Anyone taking IC spats OOCly will be kicked.
- We are willing to take new RPers so long as they, in turn are willing to learn or accept help offered to them.
We seek out all from Masters to those who have only begun their journey on the path of the Arcane Arts. Those with a passion for the practice, understanding of research, a wish to discover more or simply to debate with their peers need apply.
The Academy offers many different types of events and will often ask Scholars and Masters to research a specific artifact or aspect of magical practice (this can come with a title). However we also widely encourage members to incorporate their own characters interests or aspects of research. A member of the guild (dependant on rank) can run a lecture, training session, research project, events etc.
(There are several ways to arrange an IC interview with the Academy of Spellcraft. An IC in game mail may be sent to one of the officers. A post on the forums or a message left here on Argent Archives.)
