CLACK!
The small scorpid's pinchers opening and closing reverberated off the hard baked sand of the hot Durotar desert. A slow tenuous search for some daily nourishment was the main activity which occupied the life of this small scorpid.

Skitter.
The scorpid moved quickly over the hot sand to avoid burning. This heat could dry a scorpid out in minutes if one was unfortunate enough not to find shade.
This scorpid was lucky. Something long and dark was just ahead. It would afford shade for at least an hour before the sun changed angle again.
Shade, sweet shade. The scorpid's feelers traced along, feeling what the dark object is. Thoughts of cactus apples scampared through the mind of the small scorpid. Upon inspection the shade was not given by a cactus rich with fruit and life giving liquid.
The long dark thing had spikes on some parts but was soft...softness meant liquid yet! One poke with a pincher and although no movement could be seen it was obviously an animal...one of those perhaps that roamed by the big wood.
The animal lay unmoving, lifeless it seems. The scorpid rejoiced in it's find knowing that this purple animal might soon begin to rot and fester in the Durotar heat. The scorpid set to work hoping that this carion was fully dead, or at least unable to fight back.
